The Amazing
Flat Traveler (continued)
After hearing the story, students
made a "flat traveler", a flat version
of themselves to be sent to family and friends.
The recipients of the flat travelers are asked
to fill out a form with a brief description of
their area and to take pictures of the Flat Traveler
during the visit. They then send everything back
to the school.
When the travelers return to our school, we plot the traveler's destination on
the map and share the information received with each other. Each child is keeping
pictures and letters in a "traveler scrapbook" which he will take home
at the end of the year.
Our travelers all returned safely from their first trips to different states.
Now many of them have ventured outside of the country to places like France,
Norway, Australia, Brazil and Uganda. We are looking forward to their safe return
and news of their adventures!
Through this project our students are studying reading, writing and geography.
Best of all, they are having a great time while learning!
