Made a milk jug igloo. They used 106 milk jugs. They
are using the igloo as a play/reading center.
•
The students are using imagination and they are enjoying
the fun.
Mrs. Knodt 1st Grade
The class studied: Black History, the legend of Ground
Hog's Day, and presidents Washington and Lincoln.
They are reading 100 books to save the rain forest.
They are also working on collecting money for Habitat
for Humanity. By working together they can help save
the world.
Mrs. Lee 2nd Grade

The students are learning to differentiate between
states, cities, and town names. They are also learning
to identify the shapes and how the state originated.
•
They learned, talked about, and constructed enlarged
maps of the thirteen colonies.
•
They colored and cut the states, and then glued them
onto a large sheet of oak tag according to the state
location.
•
The maps are on display in the classroom.

Mrs. Civil 3rd grade
•
In science the students are learning about soil.
They brought soil samples in and compared them. They
also explored under rotting logs to see the decaying
process.
•
In history they learned the locations and the names
of all fifty states. This coincides with our Flat
Stanley project where they post the visits the travelers
are making on a state and world map.

Mrs. Palmentieri 4th Grade
The class read the novel "Saved at Sea" and
enjoyed the story of how a boy and his grandfather
find salvation. The students will be writing a book
report on the novel. They also learned a song about
how the thirteen colonies became fifty states.
Mrs. Spatafore 5th Grade
The fifth/grade has been studying China's interesting
past. They had a Chinese luncheon on the Chinese
New Year. It was a lot of fun for all.

6th Grade
The sixth grade studied the solar system. They constructed
a solar system and did a report on it. The fifth
grade class is studying rocks and minerals and their
layers. They built their own fossils and sedimentary
rocks.
Mrs. Locchetto 7th Grade
In the seventh and eighth grade history classes the
students were able to select five influential African
Americans to research and complete a biography organizer
for each. They also watched "Remember the Titans" and
discussed segregation of the 1960's.
Mrs. Strong 8th
Grade
In a study of seed plants, the children dissected
an amaryllis plant. They viewed the reproductive
structures, both with their eyes and with microscopes.
This activity enabled the students to see first hand,
the structures they were studying. Lab and microscope
time allows certain students to excel who might have
difficulty time with testing.
