1. In December we
were able to participate in the Kid's Alley project
under the coordination of Mrs. Joleyn Swirniuk. We
try to encourage our students to experience the meaning
of "it is more blessed to give than to receive."
2. It is in that spirit that I am happy to announce
that we are participating in a special project that
involves on of our second grade students, A.J. Beechler.
If you have shoes that you are no longer wearing
(except for high heels), you are encouraged to drop
them off at the school. Mrs. Swirniuk will be creating
bins to store them.
In 1997 after a trip to Zaire (Congo), a local NJ
couple met a young boy who asked them to get him
a pair of shoes. Meeting this young boy started their
project called FOOTSTEPS. When you give a child from
a third world country a pair of shoes it shows that
someone, somewhere cares. When they know someone
cares, it gives them hope. And with hope, there becomes
a reason to live and try for a better life and leave
FOOTSTEPS for others to follow. Shoes have been sent
to: Africa, Central America, Europe, Hope School,
Israel, American Indian Reservations in Montana,
South Dakota, Missions in NY and NJ and missions
in West Virginia and Kentucky.
WE ASK THAT ALL SHOES DONATED BE IN GOOD, CLEAN CONDITION
AND TIED TOGETHER. NO HIGH HEELS. ALL SIZES ARE NEEDED.
